Right now, I'm exploring my options for scoliosis treatment moving forward. I've been trying a new solution that seems to be working so far!

New Chiropractor

A few weeks ago, I started seeing a local KC chiropractor named Dr. Chad. He seems to be a God-send in this difficult time and has offered a lot of hope...and results already!

Prior to going to him, I've been treated by 5 or 6 chiropractors with varying results and even more diverse methods. I've gotten regular adjustments, been strapped into all sorts of beds and chairs, lain on neck and back rolls, and balanced with a cantilever contraption on my side to put pressure on my bottom curve (ouch).

Adjustments and therapies have definitely helped with muscle tension/tightness and back pain, but they have done nothing to prevent my curve progression and worsening neck condition.

I initially met with Dr. Chad with my mom so that we could consult him on a difficult situation we are in involving my previous care (that I cannot disclose at the moment).

After that meeting, I decided to see him for an adjustment the next morning because of what he shared with us (that was unrelated to the malpractice situation).

Amazing Adjustment

After that meeting and those huge revelations, I decided to come in for care the next morning. His one and only adjustment on my atlas (the top vertebrae in the cervical spine) was absolutely like nothing I've ever experienced. He delivered the lightest and quickest blow to an exact spot in the right side of my neck. Immediately, I felt a rush of relief and release of pain and tension flow through my neck and down my right side all the way to my foot.

I stood up...and it was like taking a step for the first time. I was shocked to find that I was standing level! I had believed that I would never be able to stand level because my scoliosis causes my pelvis and legs to be rotated and uneven. However, that one adjustment released something through my whole body so that I could stand straight.

Before and After

Before my first atlas adjustment:

  • Lying on my stomach, my right leg was 2 inches shorter than my left, my body curved noticeably to the right and back to the left, my left rib cage was elevated, and my neck curved to the left.

  • Lying on my back, my right leg was 3/4 to 1 inch shorter than my left, my left shoulder was 2 inches higher, my left rib cage was rotated anterieur, and my head was rotated to the left.

After my first atlas adjustment:

  • Lying on my stomach, I have a 25% reduction in leg length discrepancy, my elevated left rib cage/shoulder is visibly reduced, and I have better neck and head presentation.

I have been in four or five times already, and each time, his quick, swift adjustments release so much pressure and pain I didn't realize I had. He has slid a skull plate, feet bones, and my right knee back into place with no pain on my part whatsoever. He has identified every single pressure point so far, and little by little, I can feel a noticeable difference in how I feel, especially in my neck, where I actually carry a lot of my stress and tension.

Moving Forward

I am absolutely ecstatic with the results so far, and I am going to continue getting care from Dr. Chad. He is optimistic that within 6 months' time, I will see a huge reduction in uneven muscle distribution, posture, and even some changes in my curves!

I am feeling very hopeful for once. I will keep you updated!
