Gender fluid

Like water running over rocks

Fluctuating like the ocean

Floating away from the shore

The binary continents grow too big

So I let the dysphoric waters

Wash me away

My pronouns are ze/zhim/zir

Because I’m Zoë

Unique with a one of a kind mind

That diverges from the road

Most traveled

And with an appetite for alliteration

My pronouns are they/them

Because I am no man’s land

Between masc and femme

My pronouns are he/him

Because I’m Zack

Before there was her

There was him

Stranded at sea

But the tide drew him

Back home eventually

Now I stand on solid ground

Feet rooted across boundary lines

Yet forever fluid in movement

The ocean always knows
