If God is in the details

I’m a skim reader

They work harder than the devil

And I've got a fever

Where does God go at commercial break?

Do they tell me which purchases to make?

I think I just saw Jesus’ face

Flash on the TV

He paid the ultimate price

We make plans

And God laughs

Buys and sells our souls

Below market value

A pickpocket payday in disguise

Our screams fade to static

Crackling with unfinished plans

Unaired hopes and dreams

The frequency dies

And God tunes out

When the screen goes black

They place an ad:

“New souls for hire”
