One of my favorite poems I've written due to the imagery and figurative language.

There's a fire blazing in my heart

I'm afraid that this is just the start

The wild frenzy is raging through my core

There can be no truce to prevent this war

The ice has slid down my breast

My chest is no longer bound or compressed

This heavy, frozen feeling has thawed

The heat scratches and gnaws

This new lightness has me in awe

Of impossible things now within my grasp

The memories of the bitter frost are mere folklore

I am free of the pain and hurt of before

I broke the surface of the water with a gasp

The air was cold at first, but it soon passed

This all-consuming fire will last
